The fantastic new EP from BFW favourite Eko_Fisk.
The flavour of Eko_Fisk's music keeps growing and evolving. There is a cinematic blend of guitars and electronics, ambient and indie.
In his words: Mix Death Valley with Peyote and voila.
The Amygdala Live recorded at Házikó
No vsti, no computer, no DAW used
Only synths: Elektron A4, Clavia Nord Modular G1, Nord Drum
On Saturday 22nd August 2015, musicians from around the world each wrote and recorded a complete new song, from scratch in one day.
The next day, these songs were collected and put together as an album.
The day after that, the album was released as a free/name-your-price download under a Creative Commons licence!
These albums are always a lot of fun. We never know what we are going to get but having so little time seems to energize musicians into creating something that some would normally work on for weeks.
The result is a wonderful mix of a whole range of music from musicians around the world, all completely written, performed and recorded on Saturday 22nd August 2015.
44 tracks - over 4 hours of brand new music.
A massive thank you to all the musicians who took part.
Enjoy the album - and please share!
Prolific ambient musician and Yorkshireman, Cousin Silas returns to BFW with an album of deep, lush ambience. One beautiful longform piece, peaceful and dreamy.
Released as part of the very first Netlabel Day
An album of abstract ambient music inspired by city life on my home town of Manchester, UK.
Manchester is a busy, cosmopolitan university city. A city that has been the birthplace of so much science, music, art, political struggle and so much more besides, something that we proud Mancunians are not afraid to boast about.
This is not a chillout album, although some will find the abstract soundscapes relaxing, It is not quiet. It is an album of urban noise, slowly churning and changing. An attempt to share the experience of living near the centre of a busy city.
This will not be the last of these albums.
New music from Eko_Fisk. Much darker more cinematic than previous EPs.
"Think MK Ultra, think mind control, think Manchurian Candidate."
It is with great cheer that we welcome the return of Manchester's very own Poodleplay Arkestra.
Always a highlight of our catalogue, this new EP is four new songs in the unique style of Poodleplay Arkestra, influenced by the ambient and experimental music giants and much more.
Treat yourself! Listen and download!
The fifteenth volume of Twilight Sessions by BFW founder Bing Satellites.
Available on CD and download.
This album is a selection of live, improvised music performed and recorded in Arkösund and Stockholm in Sweden in January 2015.
Each piece starts as a blank canvas.
I play a few notes into a long, slowly decaying loop (or loops) and see where the music takes me.
A big thank you to everyone in Arkösund for their generosity.
A beautiful 15 minute electronic song dedicated to Edgar Froese.
Quite a change of pace from recent BFW releases. Voda-i-Ryba, now based in Saint Petersburg, combine indie, post rock, jazz and blues into something that is somehow both intimate and epic.
EP «America». Melancholic and hearty, but nervous homage to the culture of the Continent from New England to Mississippi. Devoted to William Faulkner, Robert Frost, Edward Hopper and Grant Wood.
Ambient electronica recorded in the beautiful surroundings of Arkösund by the Baltic Sea in Sweden in January 2015.
There is more music recorded on this trip to follow very soon.
An epic slice of Berlin school inspired ambient electronica from Omsk-based producer Kosmoplan.
The debut on BFW from Estonian producer Mikk Rebane.
An outstanding album of warm glitchy ambient mixed with Berlin school electronics.
Mikk Rebane has created something wonderful here, and expertly produced, that I know many of you will really enjoy.
The debut on BFW from Spanish musician Mangu Díaz.
A collection of five tracks that mix ambient, IDM, glitch and experimental ideas.
This is an impressive and energetic debut. We look forward to hearing more.
Turn it up and listen!
The full length debut on BFW from kevin Buckland (he has appeared on Album In A Day).
This is a very quiet album of peaceful and reflective music.
There will be more music from kevin soon.
Releases from Eko_Fisk are always a joy!
This EP is three songs of warm ambience, crisp and chilled.
We welcome in 2015 with some dark experimental electronic music from eisenlager, with collaborations from Philippe Gerber-John316, Wings of an Angel, Kostas Staikos-Substak, Hell Seb, Silentport, Falko Köhler, Gisela Köhler, Øystein Jørgensen, zentralgestirn, schwarzraum, Harald Bertram, Cousin Silas, im wesen, midnightradio11, Walter Fini-Desh Alb Project, Colin Blake-Playman54.
The music of eisenlager is subject to no form and no rule established by me. It happens in the moment that it happens. It is not being formed in my head in advance. It is formed during creation. Midnightradio 11 and eisenlager are the two projects I have been pursuing since the year 2000. The sounds that evolve during creation reflect my humor, my fear, my life, my experiences and current events. I do not fit in any category but if I had to I would describe myself as an electric krautrocker. It makes me happy when people go on a journey with my music, when they tell me what they felt, what they remembered. When that happens I have reached my goal.
The wonderful new experimental ambient album from Meteer.
A mix of organic and glitchy electronics forming a warm ambient sound.
A wonderful apocalyptic BFW debut from Dozelimit, a band based in Russian city Omsk (in south west Siberia).
55 minutes of glorious shoegazing soundscapes and post rock noise.
The second collaboration album from Devin Powers (SineRider) and Graham Marlowe, both of whom will be familiar to many of you from their previous releases on BFW and beyond.
This album acts as a second half to its counterpart, however it builds and expands upon its own musical ideas.
Lakewaves Vol. 2 is a fusion of scratchy tape loops, guitars and smooth synthesizers set to jazzy, downtempo rhythms.
The thirteenth volume of Twilight Sessions by BFW founder Bing Satellites.
Available on double CD and download
This album is a selection of live, improvised recordings.
Each piece starts as a blank canvas.
I play a few notes into a long, slowly decaying loop (or loops) and see where the music takes me.
This is especially true in this album. I started only one song (Outside) with a particular key or scale in mind (E phrygian dominant, if you really want to know), and even then, the key changed to something slightly different (A harmonic minor - same notes but with the root note being A and not E) as the song progressed.
This is a very inspiring and liberating way to create music - I can express myself in ways I never could with words or traditionally written pieces of music.
I hope you enjoy it too.
The cover features a large emerald moth with landed in my bathroom one warm evening.
They are quite common, although they don't usually stand out so much from their surroundings.
A massive album of drifting ambient music available on 4 CD package and download.
More is an album of music inspired by Manchester, my home town.
The city is hectic and noisy and full of every kind of person from around the world. And I live very close to the centre. While it is constantly busy here, I can escape into my light and airy little studio.
This album is a product of this great city and that is reflected in the sound - it is drifting and ambient but also gritty and pretty loud in places.
There is a reinterpretation of my song Where I Stand (from Nothing For Miles) plus a poem from Robert Matejko aka Robby Baby Dark Poet of Amour (recorded by Karl Hamilton) inspired by my music and a vivid dream Robby once had about The Sun.
Four artists remixing each other once again, resulting in sixteen new electronic music creations.
The creativity of each individual artist was used to produce an original composition, which was then shared with the others. Each artist remixed the three tracks from the others, so the result consist of four original tracks and twelve remixes.
The graphics for each track represents both the artist and the remixer - the upper left letter represents the original artist and the lower right letter represents the remixer.
Sombre and beautiful. The wonderful collection of new music from Elypixa.
The third collaborative (studio) album from Magnus Larsson and Björn Asserhed.
This is abstract ambient music in its purest form: the sound is quiet and atmospheric but organically electronic. It is almost as if the music is floating on the wind or through the ether on a shortwave radio.
This is another wonderful album from Magnus and Björn.
A collection of quiet piano-based songs, recorded between December 2011 and March 2014.
Available on gatefold CD and download.
These songs are in part inspired by Tristan Da Cunha, the most remote inhabited island in the world. It can only be reached by a seven day boat journey. I find the idea of peace and quiet and isolation appealing but this place goes beyond anything you can imagine - a tiny volcanic island thousands of miles from anything... anything!
The first five songs were recorded for Album In A Day volume 8 and indeed, versions of the first three tracks appeared on that album. Some other tracks were originally intended to be released on a Soothing Images album but many of those recordings were plundered for other projects. The ones included here seemed to fit quite well with the atmosphere I wanted.
While the people of Tristan Da Cunha in some ways lead an idyllic life, they must work hard and be very self-reliant. They are at the mercy of nature - occasional extreme weather, illness and living on a volcano. I find it fascinating.
A collection of guitar pieces from P.V. Herrera.
From quiet, atmospheric pieces to noisy, more shoegazey tracks.
The second in a series of EPs available on mini CD and download from Bing Satellites.
The Midnight EP features two tracks - 20 minutes of chilled experimental ambient soundscapes.
An album of dark ambient atmospheres from the now prolific ambient musician Ade Hodges.
Many of you will know Ade for his wonderful abstract paintings (see link below). He has somehow managed to transfer those skills into making similarly abstract music with an already large collection of albums.
Canadian producer Denis Desjardins returns to BFW with a second album of short electronic pieces.
Berlin School style sequencers and warm electronics.
Ambient music legend, guitar collector, Yorkshireman with hat - Cousin Silas returns to BFW with a wonderful album. Many shades of ambient can be found here, from dark to light, plus occasional beats, electronics, lots of guitars and mysterious voice samples.
One of the most prolific musicians out there, Cousin Silas has been very busy since his last full album on BFW. Check out a few on the rather wonderful netlabel We Are All Ghosts.
New music from from Oleg Marchenko, a electronic music producer from Kiev, Ukraine.
Ligea differs from Oleg's other project Organoid (see his previous BFW release Alienation Horizon). This album is a mix of Berlin School electronics, IDM and grand orchestrations. Piano, strings, beats and electronics - this is perfect soundtrack material.
The twelfth Twilight Sessions album is 75 minutes of live, improvised ambient music performed during December 2013 by BFW founder Bing Satellites.
The album is available on gatefold CD and download.
The music is played into a long, slowly decaying loop.
These loops are quite long (often around 90 seconds or more) and with very little rhythm to speak of, it is difficult to know precisely where I am in the loop, so I can add notes and sounds where I see fit, but can never know exactly what I am adding these notes to. Therefore, it must be said that although I am the one making these sounds and creating this music, much of it is down to serendipity.
The album also includes more experiments with layers of live piano loops of different lengths.
The eighth album on BFW from the various incarnations of The Amygdala.
This album is electric from the word go.
39 minutes of energizing electronica from Hungarian producer László Néder.
The new album of live performances by Bing Satellites, broadcast on www.radiosunrise.de and radio.electro-music.com during September 2013.
3 and a half hours of improvised ambient and electronic music available on a 4 CD package and download.
Included in this performances is a an experiment at recording and layering imrpovised piano loops live.
For the first time in a while, there is guitar that actually sounds like a guitar and I sing - yes, that's right!
You have been warned!
The CD version of this album includes some extra music and comes in a newly designed 4 CD package, available from bigcartel.
Jonathan Ewald returns to BFW under his moniker litmus0001 with a beautiful album of brooding atmospheric ambience.
The sublime new album from Ketsa with cover painting by Dina Chhan - www.artistdina.com
Ketsa's sixth album on BFW is a precisely crafted, beautiful mix of electronics, percussion, acoustic instruments and atmospheres.
Those of you who have heard Ketsa's music will know you're in for a treat.
The new album of quiet, beautiful songs performed on piano and guitar by prolific ambient composer Bing Satellites and Engineers/Modern Painters main man Daniel Land.
Although both have worked together in the past (Bing has played on songs by Daniel's previous band Daniel Land & The Modern Painters, as well as part of the live version of Daniel's ambient project riverrun), this is the first full collaboration between the two.
The finale of a riverrun concert in Manchester included a grainy ambient guitar played over a treated piano track. The pair decided there should be more of this sort of thing.
The album features the stunning artwork of abstract painter Ade Hodges. You can find more of his artwork at www.facebook.com/adehodgesartist.
A live performance by Meteer recorded 9th September, 2013 at Andreaskyrkan, Mjölby, Sweden.
Regular visitors to BFW will be familiar with the wonderful abstract ambient music of Meteer, as well as his collaborations with Closer Contact (for example: Geography live, Integer Ring and Exterm (Black Sign on Coloured Background).
The music here is sparse, grainy and electronic but warm and atmospheric and released just nine days after it was performed!
Rather fittingly, the music is performed in a church - Andreaskyrkan in Mjölby, a church that Meteer, aka Björn Asserhed, knows very well.
I, for one, wish I could have been there to witness this performance live but for those of us who could not be there, this recording is another fine example of the music of Meteer.
The new album from The Amygdala.
Hungarian producer László Néder delivers another electronic / psy trance masterpiece, his seventh release on BFW.
The sublime new EP from Manchester's Poodleplay Arkestra.
Once again, so much beauty if crammed into such a short space of time.
Although Poodleplay Arkestra draws influence from a wide range of music, the sound is completely original and unique.
I know many people will be looking forward to this EP and they will not be disappointed. Just wonderful!.
The new album of quiet piano based songs from Bing Satellites.
73 minutes of peaceful, atmospheric ambient music,
available on CD and download.
Motif started life during a very creative period in February and March 2013.
During that time, I was rehearsing for upcoming gigs and experimenting with various set-ups - basically trying to have as many options with as little equipment as possible.
I ended up with the laptop and mixer, a small keyboard and my smallest guitar (plus ebow).
All the music on this album was improvised using this set-up and as I plan to improvise the live sets I play, this is fair representation of what to expect when I do play live.
Another album, Und, was recorded during this time.
The excellent debut collaboration between Devin Powers (SineRider) and Graham Marlowe, both of whom will be familiar to many of you from their previous releases on BFW and beyond.
We've been looking forward to this album at BFW for a while and it does not disappoint.
This is an album of real beauty. A wide range of sounds and styles blended seemlessly on a very interesting album. There are warped tapes, atmospheres, electronics and guitars creating delicate melodies and beautiful soundscapes.
The new longform ambient album from The Ambient Visitor, a side project of BFW founder Bing Satellites.
A continuous, 57 minute piece split into three parts.
The music is generative:
each note is played in a long loop, the length of each loop if different for each note, so although the music may seem to vary only slightly, it never quite repeats itself.
I decided, perhaps because this is the thirteenth album, to start off in a darker mood. However, the key changes from the minor to a brighter major around half way.
The tracks on this album (and albums to follow) is named after Apollo near-Earth asteroids, objects whose orbits cross that of Earth.
There are many hundreds of known Apollo asteroids, though only a few dozen have been named officially, so I may run out of names from this list as quickly as I did with TNOs.
Image To Sound 2: Earth
BFW is proud to present the new collaboration between Burning Artist and Emerald Adrift, a unique mix of ambient soundscapes and dark electronics.
Burning Artist is the ambient/experimental sound artist alter ego of the Burning Artist(s) Sale. Work on this album started sometime late in 2010, when images of earth were used to create MIDI/musical elements for the two longer pieces. This is the type of geek stuff that Burning Artist thrives on. Another key element to the Burning Artist part of this album is the Marsynth Morris Box synth (Burning Artist(s) Sale edition). Again, more evidence of the high geek quotient that Burning Artist revels in.
Burnt Emeralds is an ongoing collaboration between Emerald Adrift and Burning Artist/Killer Haven. Without the very great contribution of Emerald Adrift, this album would probably have never been released. Burning Artist is thankful for the masterful work on “a second glimpse.”
The wonderful new EP from Poland based producer Piotro.
A really chilled half hour of lush ambient electronica.
The fifth album by The Lovely Moon, a side project of BFW founder Bing Satellites, and the first to be released by BFW.
75 minutes of positive, relaxing ambient music.
Also available on CD from thelovelymoon.bandcamp.com
Post blues or post-soul would decree the English critic Simon Reynolds if he had the opportunity to listen to the album that is by editing Aguas Tónicas soon or better yet, witness the band live. As it is unlikely that this (that Reynolds will listen) happen in the short term, it is necessary to say a few things: the music of AguasTónicas has almost nothing to 'post' and a lot of 'pre'. It says nothing of the end of an era, but speaks of a time to come, in which some things are similar to before, and others will change our lives forever. In short: they are songs to accompany those who make the decision to change their lives. It is, perhaps, the soundtrack of an organic world, constructivist, utopian, in which the single thought is abolished and only serve to make soy patties. For now we have to settle with the music.
To celebrate our 4th birthday, we bring you our 200th release - the fantastic new album from Amygdala.
Pillars Of Creation is Amygdala's 6th release on BFW recordings and follows on from the previous five albums - a nice mix of ambient electronica with hints of psy trance and ambient dub.
Give your ears a treat and download it right now!
Eko_Fisk's seventh release on BFW recordings.
This is an astonishing piece of work. The quality, chilled electronic ambience of Eko_Fisk has reached another level here.
In his own words - Eno, Martin Hannett, in Paris, and it's freezing cold. This is probably some of the best I've done yet.
The new experimental ambient EP from Bing Satellites.
A heady mix of ambient dub and glitchy electronics along with lush strings and atmospheres.
The new EP of big electronic music from Hungarian producer Amgdala projects.
Vladislav Buben returns to BFW with one of the best and most interesting releases of 2012 (in my humble opinion).
Layered electronics, manic voices and saxophones that defy much description.
You should probably just listen.
Something quite special.
After their recent success playing the first ever BFW live online concert, four of the members of Swedish electronic music collective Dogma Noveau have collaborated on this unique and brilliant album.
Each artist presents an original song which is then remixed by other three artists, producing a sixteen track album of glitchy, minimal ambient electronica.
Bing Satellites returns with an album of slow, drifting ambient music.
In his own words -
Record everything! That is the rule I try to live by.
The music on this album was recorded in one week in March 2012, a week when I was rather unwell and thought I had done very little other than take my cold medicine and watch TV in bed.
I played a few soothing tunes on the piano (well, my facsimile of a piano) from time to time, but it came as quite a surprise to find that all of this music had been recorded during that week.
The new collection of beautiful, peaceful songs from Manchester's Poodleplay Arkestra.
A new release from Poodleplay Arkestra is always something to look forward to.
Their music, although influenced by many, Jon Hassell and Brian Eno among them, inhabits a special place all of its own. Guitars, piano, strings and soundscapes cascade around you.
A wonderful piece of work.
The new album of quiet piano music by Daniel Land, also known as the singer and songwriter of Manchester shoegazers Daniel Land and The Modern Painters.
He also create atmospheric ambient music under the name riverrun.
Daniel plays bass, along side Mark Peters and Ulrich Schnauss in Engineers and plays guitar in The Steals.
My Sad Captains is Daniel's first album of piano music, written between 1997 and 2012, and recorded over an 8 year period with help from Bing Satellites, Ian McGinn, and others.
Eko_Fisk's sixth release on BFW is, in his own words, a kind of a space opera that came to me after watching some scifi movies... I developed a plot and soundtrack in my head.
This is a collection of short ambient electronic songs.
Spacey and atmospheric but tinged with an eerie darkness.
A wonderful piece of work.
From A Window In A Gift Shop
We continue our tradition of delivering something new and interesting in the shape of the spoken word album by Graham Marlowe, backed by the stunning ambient guitar work of P.V. Herrera, better known to some of you as The Danger Girl Starship.
The release includes three bonus tracks, including two instrumental versions of tracks from the album.
The continuing adventures of Peter Jelp
Something a wee bit different from Bing Satellites.
An album of chilled, glitchy ambient music heavily inspired by All The Lost Souls, the collaboration between myself, Getzel and piper_ben.
Although this is a solo album, this collaboration has meant I have explored new avenues that I may otherwise have never have stumbled upon.
The music is comprised of several improvised performances on piano, synth and baritone guitar, using many of the tricks and tools I have used in previous albums. These recordings, however, have been mixed and, in places, heavily processed to create the glitchy ambient soundscapes that make up this album.
Also included on this album is a live set performed and broadcast live on electro-music.com as part of their Summer Solstice 2012 Concert.
The set features live versions of three songs already on this album.
The second release on BFW recordings by Michael Cowhey.
Voyage into the Unknown is a short collection in seven parts. It is a mix of ambient soundscapes and lush strings and other orchestral sounds built around a central theme
The fourth release from Glasgow indie band The Maybes sees the duo return with two new songs with a harder lofi sound and vocals shared between Geo and Chelle.
Really excellent stuff. I'm sure we'll have more from these two in the next few months.
The new EP by fantastic Russian indie band |sistra|, or more correctly, |систра|, their fifth on BFW.
The EP consists of the original version plus five varied remixes of the song 'Revolving In You'. Remixes from Gosprom, iluvya, ifwe, There is a Light (Антон Смирнов) and Mineguide и S.Z.
The fourth on BFW from Amygdala projects.
László Néder once again delivers the goods with nearly an hour of exquisitely produced ambient electronica and uplifting psy trance.
A truly wonderful album!
A selection of live, improvised recordings from March, April and May 2012, performed on piano, synths, flute and clarinet plus a whole host of electronic wizardry.
My studio set up is constantly evolving and this album takes advantage of that.
This album includes two early experiment with playing live instruments (flute on 'Voices inside my head' and clarinet on 'Denner's travels in harsh static') through pitch pedals. You hear the note played plus a fifth (and sometimes and octave) above that note.
It is an interesting effect and one you will hear more of in the near future.
And yes, I am thinking of doing more 'colour' albums.
After their contribution to Album in A Day volume 4, we are proud to bring you the fantastic new single from Russian indie band Hospital.
The fifth release on BFW recordings by ambient producer Eko_Fisk.
The Wait develops Eko_Fisk's unique sound further from pure ambient to include guitars and electro sounds.
The debut single by Indonesian indie band Kaveh Kanes.
BFW recordings is proud to bring you more new music from Indonesia.
Jangly guitars and heartfelt lyrics with a touch of twee pop.
The debut album on BFW by Kiev-based producer Organoid.
Alienation Horizon is a stunning piece of work - a mix of IDM, electronics and ambient shoegaze.
There are drums, big and small, with lush atmospheric pads, blips and electronics, and electric pianos. Wonderful stuff.
Brand new music from an international collaboration between piper_ben (Germany), Getzel (Mexico) and Bing Satellites (UK).
The album is a mix of piano, glitched electronics and ambient landscapes.
This collaboration has happened very quickly with much enthusiasm from all three, so expect more music very soon.
Paper-clip Mammal is a collaboration between Anthing and Chris Fordham.
Chris supplies the lyrics and vocals while Anthing supplies the music.
We hope to have more from these two in the near future.
After appearances on The Chain and Album In A Day, Piotro now releases a complete album on BFW.
The sound is epic - massive reverberating pads with ghostly chopped up samples and glitchy, organic microbeats.
I am reluctant to call this ambient, even though that is probably what this is closest to. This is more - the sound of changing weather in the far distance.
This fits right in here at BFW. We hope you will enjoy it too.
The new abstract ambient album from Closer Contact.
Magnus Larsson returns with his sixth release on BFW (including his collaborations with Meteer).
This is yet another ambient tour de force - an album of mysterious electronic soundscapes.
In his own words -
I've tried to create a straight down ambient album with more or less no rhythm involved.
The new experimental ambient album from Meteer.
This is another triumph! Meteer once again delivers an album of immense beauty.
A kind of slow and glitchy atmospheric ambience that is at once electronic and organic.
This kind of music could be cold but I always feel with Meteer's music that we are watching a story unfold around us.
The fantastic new ambient album from SineRider, his sixth release on BFW.
The album is made using a old hand held tape recorder and making drones out of and sampling those recordings. There is hiss and crackle, wow and flutter that could only come from such a source. This gives the album a unique atmospheric feel. Couple that with the ear and skill of a producer such as SineRider and you have an ambient masterpiece on your hands.
The new ambient soundscape album from piper_ben. His second release on BFW is a single 50 minute track of ambient drones and soundscape.
The third in the series of live, improvised ambient albums.
Another 17 quiet ambient songs - mainly piano and baritone guitar - with 17 accompanying photographs.
How the music is created:
A 16 bar phrase is played.
That phrase is fed into a slowly decaying 16 bar loop, similar to the one used in Twilight Sessions.
That loop is fed into a slowly decaying 6 bar loop which repeats the first loop every 6 bars, so that soon, there are several layers of the original phrase that interact and create new themes and melodies.
They seem to appear from nowhere, but these new melodies are destined to happen as soon as each note is played in the original 16 bar phrase.
Some musicians seems unhindered by genre and technique.
Here we have a mix of real instruments, electronics and vocals to produce an ever-changing and very pleasing EP.
The new EP from Entheogen.
A nice mix of electronica with elements of techno and IDM.
The fourth release on BFW from Eko_Fisk sees a subtle change in direction - the lush and warm ambient textures are joined by sequencer driven Berlin school style electronics.
This is soundtrack music with real tension and beauty.
The fantastic new indie single from Glasgow duo The Maybes.
Daniel Finfer of Post Human Era returns to BFW recordings with his new project - a collaboration with Daniel Anderson of Idiot Pilot.
Ancient Lasers is a superb collection of songs, pristine productions - a mix of rock guitars and glitchy electronics.
Fantastic new indie / shoegaze single from Indonesia band A.F.F.E.N
The new single by Glaswegian indie band The Maybes.
In their own words:
The Maybes are proud to release a new 2 song demo, our second for BFW Recordings.
Our first track “All you got” is a retro inspired tribute to old- skool hard rock.
Our next track “Won’t go by” is a collaboration with Jay who co wrote and played guitar on the song.
Ketsa returns to BFW with volume one of a two volume album fittingly released on 11.11.11
His beautiful mix of lush strings, samples and beats is uniquely Ketsa and a joy.
Volume 2 of this album will be released sinultaneously with this volume on Ketsa's bandcamp site
Release date: 11 November 2011

The new ambient EP from Eko_Fisk.
Eko_Fisk returns to BFW with another superb collection of three very chilled and chilling songs.
Zanoides return to BFW with a fantastic album of unique and warm electronica.
It's been a long time coming but it is definitely worth the wait!
Recorded live at PomPom Festival, Norrkoping, Sweden, July 2011.
Closer Contact and Meteer have taken their Geography project to a live setting.
The result is an album of sparse beauty, of layered ambience and glitchy electronics.
Behold, the new release from MagicVan!
More of the most entertaining and original sounds you'll hear, oh I don't know, this side of Hackney!
Taren McCallan-Moore's unique blend of abstract sound collages, weird electronics, humour and downright craziness is always a joy to hear.
The second in a new series of live, improvised ambient albums.
15 quiet ambient songs with 15 accompanying photographs.
How the music is created:
A 16 bar phrase is played.
That phrase is fed into a slowly decaying 16 bar loop, similar to the one used in Twilight Sessions.
That loop is fed into a slowly decaying 6 bar loop which repeates the first loop every 6 bars, so that soon, there are several layers of the original phrase that interact and create new themes and melodies.

Going Really Fast Around A Corner In A Three Wheeler
MagicVan returns to BFW recordings with another fantastic release.
Five funny and intelligent pieces which, as usual, I find hard to describe.
Field recordings, weird electronics, music and words chopped up and stuck back together in ways that are surprising and very entertaining.
I always look forward to a new MagicVan release and luckily for us, there is plenty more to come in the next few months.
Russian indie band Слайды (The Slides) return to BFW recordings with a fantastic new single.
The songs are powerful and expertly delivered.
Elypixa returns to BFW with a fantastic collection of glitchy electronic ambience.
Ghostkid returns to BFW with an EP of funky electronica.
From the sci-fi intro to funky grooves and grainy electronics.
The fantastic new single from Russia indie band |sistra|.
A beautiful mix of electronics, echoing guitars and delicate voices.
An album of poems spoken by Graham Marlowe with music performed on vibraphone by Michael Neumeyer.
In their own words:
"Though some of you may not be familiar with my work (yet), you may recognize some names in the liner notes -- Steve Peplin (guitar) and Steve Gallam (soprano sax) specifically. This album is largely a poetry/vibes "duet" record, but with a tremendous amount of coloring from Peplin, Gallam, and a set of chimes made from discarded keys.
Corduroy Resignation is about letting things go. It's about recognizing that you have nothing left to do but press on with your life as if nothing were wrong. It's not illusory; it's liberating, actually. And that kind of liberation is something I want to share with others.
My mentor once joked that if it were 1975, I'd be rich and famous. However, "that was another time..." he said with slight resignation. The longing in his face explains what is needed to give this record its future home(s): your help.
The connection between Mike and I (captured on this recording) is just as mysterious as the genre it operates within -- something of a lost relic. But to be pessimistic about popular culture (and mainstream tastes) would essentially be defeatist, and work against the inspiration that drives this material. After all, this project is more or less the next chapter of my first poetry book, Into Light, released in August 2008.
We took our lives as far as we could to get this out into the world, but until we gather enough support to release it physically, the record cannot reach the right people. Beauty comes at the strangest of times, and this album makes it all too familiar again."
The seventh album in the Twilight Sessions series.
Like the first five volumes, this is an album of completely improvised, live ambient music.
Each piece starts as a blank canvas.
The music is built around a long, slowly decaying loop. Notes are added from synths, guitar, voice and clarinet and over time, they built into grand, atmospheric soundscapes.
Sometimes, however, I forget to press record when something wonderful is created. On these occasions, I can only capture the loop that has already been created. This is the reason that three of the tracks on this album are unusually short.
MagicVan returns to BFW with another highly original and entertaining collection of recordings.
How to describe this? Well, I have described MagicVan as BFW's Captain Beefheart - a description he has not taken offence too (yet!), so I'm sticking to it.
All I suggest is that you download, listen and make up your own mind.
There is much more to come from MagicVan over the next few months.
Eko_Fisk returns to BFW with a stunning new atmospheric ambient EP.
A collection of four beautiful songs, two of which feature KIR.
The third release on BFW from Amygdala Projects is an EP of grandiose ambient electronica.
László Néder has once again brought an expertly crafted mix of film soundtrack tension, ambient dub and chilled psychedelic ambience.
The third release on BFW recordings from Russian indie band |sistra|.
The sound is a mix of indie guitars and electronics and delicate yet powerful post rock.
This EP features a live version of Tiny Boat. The studio version will be released soon.
The debut single from Kisstronix.
A good mix of big beats, funky bass and psychedelic guitars.
The first collaboration between ambient musicians Tange and Bing Satellites - hopefully the first of many.
You may know Bing Satellites from his many releases here on BFW.
Many of you will be aware of Tange through his catalogue of beautiful ambient music, some of which you can download for free from the wonderful Earth Mantra netlabel.
Others will know him through his radio show Mysterious Semblance on StillStream which airs weekly on Friday at midnight UK time (6pm CST).
The debut on BFW recordings from Telegraph 909 is an EP of classically electronic music.
In a relatively short space of time, you glimpse into 11 different worlds.
This is music perfect for a film soundtrack.
An extraordinary debut from Scottish songwriter Oliver Philpott.
An EP of three guitar based indie songs of power and beauty.
Listen to Out Of Sadness - just amazing!
Phillip Wilkerson returns to BFW with the third release from his ambient project Janes scenic drive.
What Phillip has created is an album of such immense beauty. You will fall into the music and it will carry you off on a journey through happiness and sadness, through delight and mystery.
Download the album and share it with your friends!
|систра| return with a fantastic indie pop single.
A crisp production with those sweet (Jonsi inspired) vocals and the music are delicate and powerful all at once.
And we have more from this Russian band over the next few months!
Amygdala Projects returns to BFW recordings with an epic new album.
Nearly an hour of electronica somewhere between ambient dub and psy trance. Wonderful stuff!
The debut on BFW recordings from Celticsven is a mix of high energy, almost psy trance and down tempo grooves.
A new release from Poodleplay Arkestra is something we always look forward to and this is no exception. 'Hector's Metamorphosis' is an extraordinary collection of six songs. Peaceful, beautiful and whimsical,Poodleplay Arkestra manages to pack so much into 16 minutes.
Tell your friends - there is a new Poodleplay Arkestra EP!
The sixth album in the Twilight Sessions series.
The debut on BFW recordings from Vapor Lanes is an EP of intense, grainy electronica.
The debut on BFW recordings by Cluster One is a two pieces of quiet, abstract ambience.
If you needed a reminder that BFW recordings isn't just about ambient music, here is Blends with an EP of intricate indie guitar songs.
A mammoth debut album from Russian indie rockers The Slides.
Soma is an album indie guitar rock, clearly influenced by britpop and sounding like something between M83 and Oasis.
Put it on, turn it up and enjoy!
A beautiful piece of thumping yet quite ambient electronica from The Crisis Project.
The debut on BFW recordings from Russian indie band |sistra|, or more correctly, |систра|.
The band have gained some recognition in their native Russia and rightly so.
Diaphone is a collection of heartfelt songs. The band's delivery is powerful and emotional. Close to post rock but more fragile and less apocalyptic.
We have much more from |sistra| in the near future.
The new ambient EP from Swedish producer Meteer. More of what we have come to expect from Meteer - crisp, minimalist ambient electronic soundscapes that are quiet and beautiful.
Bing Satellites returns with the fourth release in as many months.
'Time' is an ambient album but it is emotive and psycheldelic, touched by Bing's love of shoegaze and experimental music. The sounds on this album come from a wide variety of sources - synths, laptop, guitar, clapped out old keyboards and objects lying around Bing's studio in Manchester.
The debut from Glaswegian duo The Maybes.
This is a modern take on classic C86 indie.
This won't be the last we hear of The Maybes.
The debut on BFW from Berlin based producer a:urban.
A deep electronic EP that mixes dark ambient, ambient shoegaze with harder drum and bass beats (even if those beats aren't at the front of the mix).
We hope to have more from a:urban in the future.
The debut release from Kamin is a fantastic electronic journey.
There is a nice mix on this album - from dark electronica with real "synth-y" synths and real drums to beautiful ambient landscapes.
My description does this album no justice, so I would suggest you have a listen and judge for yourself!

The day after, the songs were collected together to make this album. The day after that, Monday 9 April 2012, the album was released.
After the success of Album In A Day volumes 1-3, we had to do this all over again. The enthusiastic response from listeners and everyone involved is fantastic.
On Saturday 13 August 2011, musicians from around the world each wrote and record a new song, completely and from scratch in one day.
The next day, those songs were collected together as an album.
On Monday 15 August 2011, the album was released as a free download by BFW recordings under a Creative Commons licence.
The last two times we have done this has been a huge success - albums of original new ambient, electronica, indie and much more, and this album is no exception.
After the resounding success of Album In A Day volume 1, we quickly decided that we would have to try this again some time. So earlier this year, we invited musicians from around the world to each write and record a completely new song, from scratch on 19 March 2011.
All the songs would be collected together the next day and released as a free download and bit torrent on Monday 21 March 2011.
The response has been phenomenal! 27 songs from musicians all over the world and a wide range of styles as you might expect from BFW recordings.
On Saturday, 28 August 2010, several musicians from around the world each wrote and recorded a song. These songs were completely conceived and finished on that day with no pre-planning, save for marking that date on the calendar.
The next day, all the songs were collected and put together as an album.
On Monday, 30 August 2010, this album will be released as a free download by BFW recordings.
It is finally here!
The Chain volume two features songs 11 to 20 from this ongoing project - music from Shorthand Phonetics, Tony Kavanagh, piper_ben, Eko_Fisk, Telegraph 909, Donny and the Robot, Elypixa, Daniel Land, onewayness and Jim Butler.
The Chain is a continuing collection of songs following on from one another.
A name was chosen at random from the list of musicians who wanted the take part. That musician (Spooky Child) had three weeks to write and record a completely new song.
The first song submitted was be passed along to the second musician who had three weeks to create a second song inspired by or using parts of the first song.
The second song was passed along to the third musician who created a third song inspired by or using parts of the second song.
And so on...
The only people to hear each song will be the person who creates it, the next person in the chain and 'the team' here at BFW recordings. To that end, we only publish a finished song once three more songs are complete - hence, now that 23 songs are finally complete, we are releasing the second 10 songs as The Chain volume 2.
The Chain is an ongoing project and we are still looking for musicians who can and want to take part. If you want to take part or have any questions, visit www.bfwrecordings.com/releases/TheChain/Vol2/
Yes! We are happy to announce that The Chain volume one is out now. An amazing album with artwork designed by Dan Northern tiltedsquare.com.

Ho! Ho! Ho!
It's that time of year again. Nights are growing darker.
There's a chill in the air and turkeys and their vegetarian equivalents are starting to get nervous.

Ho! Ho! Ho! It must be that time of year!
After the success of The BFW Christmas 2010, we knew that if you could do it again, we really should.
This album is 85 minutes of festive loveliness from artists who have released music on BFW and our friends. There is a whole range of music - twinkly bells and lush ambience to indie and electronica.
There is music from Cousin Silas, SineRider, Eko_Fisk, Bing Satellites, Poodleplay Arkestra, Shane Morris, Mystified and many more.
Feel free to share this album with your family and friends.
Merry Christmas!
A while back, we invited BFW artists and our friends to submit songs for a BFW Christmas Album.
We left the scope for these contributions quite wide - you could write a song with a Christmas or Winter feel, or maybe a song for your love ones, or even get out the sleigh bells and croon like Nat King Cole! It just had to be an original song - we aren't doing an album of ambient Christmas carols!
What we got has astounded us.
So we present to you The BFW Christmas Album 2010, a collection of 12 songs with the usual BFW flavour - from ambient to shoegaze to electronic to downright bonkers!
Please share this album with your family and friends.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Older Releases
A nicely chilled, downtempo debut on BFW recordings from Ghostkid.
Slow, funky grooves and grainy synths that sound like they have appeared out of the heathaze of mid summer.
The fourth album in the Twilight Sessions series.
Like the previous four releases in this series, this is a collection of improvised live recordings. In places, very ambient: long, drawn out pieces that evolve slowly, creating quite an emotive and evocative sound. Each piece starts as a blank canvas with no preconceived notion of where the music will go. Notes and noises are played from synths, guitar, voice, clarinet and samples and fed into one or two loops which repeat and layer and decay. These loops can be quite long, so as a performer I can add notes as I see fit, but only have a certain amount of control over what is heard - the rest is serendipity. This time, the whole album was recorded in one week in November 2010, with each recording around an hour long.
The latest experimental electronic album from dep.
dep uses a wide variety of sounds and techniques to create some very entertaining and original music. While at times very chilled, this music is immense - it appears to fill a huge physical space while all the while getting inside you head.
We are honoured to share this album with you.
Closer Contact and Meteer return with a second collaborative album.
Following on from the first volume of Geography, which was described as 'one of the best albums of 2010', this is another masterpiece! The music is abstract and electronic and quite minimal, but Closer Contact and Meteer have created another album of quiet psychedelic beauty.
So will this be described as 'one of the best albums of 2011'? Take a listen and judge for yourself!
The Danger Girl Starship has returned with a more darker deep release, same ambient style as Teenager.
Noisy People
Noisy People is a collection of shoegaze, experimental and instrumental songs by My Own True Desire (Julien Garcia) and False Awakening (Julien Pierron).
The new raucous indie rock album from I Am The Devil. A great collection of songs. Sometimes angry, sometimes bluesy and laidback - always heartfelt. This album is a little rough around the edges but that just adds to its charm.
The fourth album in the Twilight Sessions series. Like the previous three releases in this series, this is a collection of improvised live recordings.
The fifth release on BFW from SineRider.
As those of you who have been lucky enough to hear SineRider's music before, a new release is always welcome. In the past, he has delivered some sublime music somewhwere on the spectrum between ambient and post rock. 'Ambivert', as the name suggests, is firmly rooted in the ambient side of things. Half an hour of chilled loveliness.
An extremely chilled ambient electronic album from Hungarian producer Amygdala Projects, his wonderful debut on BFW. A whole of musical styles is here - ambient, psy, ambient dub, electronic - but with a warmth and energy running through it.
Entheogen returns to BFW with an EP of chilled out, psychedelic electronica.
Our 100th release!
Bing Satellites starts the year with an EP of ambient piano songs. These four songs are based around generative loops where each note is played on a loop, the length of that loop varying according to its pitch. They are sparse and beautiful.
echo is a split album between Maybe Starry Skies and False Awakening, who share the same love for instrumental acoustic music, as well as ambient post-rock and emotional atmospheres.
The seventh release on BFW from i AM esper is perhaps the most melodic and accessible. This is much more melancholic and ambient in places. More delicate than some of the heavy drones we have heard in the past. A pretty damned wonderful EP!
Slylab, once a solo project is now a fully-fledged band. Hailing from Indonesia, they bring a bright mixture of ambient shoegaze and pop electronica to their first full release on BFW recordings.
Here is the new experimental project from Elypixa.
It would be too pretentious to compare himself to Beethoven, but he has inspired Elypixa. Beethoven continued to write, compose music after becoming deaf.
That's where Elypixa had an idea - compose an album without listening to what he does, just taking into account the knowledge of its design software.
The sixth release on BFW from i AM esper on BFW recordings is a bit of a change of pace. This EP starts off much more peacefully and atmospheric than previous releases with the sound of gentle stream and quietly plucked guitars, though the hypnotic feel and drone make their presence felt.
The fourth release on BFW from Anthing is a fantastic album of mixed up electronic music - in places quirkiy, glitchy and quite emotive. Give your ears a treat and get this downloaded!
The debut on BFW recordings from Michael Cowhey is a fine collection of mainly quiet, instrumental piano songs interspersed with experimental soundtrack ambience.
JCM returns with another chilled album 'The Sound Of Anything'. This is a collection of smooth ambience following on from 2009's 'Scenes' but with more instrumentation.
Oneiro returns with a fantastic collection of beautiful songs somewhere near ambient shoegaze, plus two remixes by CJ Lee and Bing Satellites. Another great free download from BFW recordings.
We are delighted to welcome piper_ben to BFW recordings! His debut EP on BFW is an interesting mix of experimental ambient and mixed up house.
The debut release on BFW from Hadrocodium Wui is of course a compilation of the best tracks from some of the last ten years. This is quite unique and therefore hard to define, but here goes... This album has a chilled ambient background but is coupled with mixed up beats and percussion and an intensity and even a maniacal quality to some of the instrumentation. It draws from a whole range of influences, which makes it an ideal addition to the BFW catalogue. Get it downloaded and spend a wonderful 39 minutes in the company of Hadrocodium Wui!
The fifth release on BFW recordings from i AM esper is an altogether chilled affair. This time, the drones are much less forceful and are accompanied by delicate melodies. This is a beatiful EP. We have much more to come from i AM esper over the next few months.
The second release on BFW from False Awakening. This EP is actually just one extended song, and a beautiful song at that, made from acoustic guitars and atmospherics.
A deeply chilled ambient EP from Ekofisk. Bad Weather is a collection of slow, warm ambient songs that wash over you. A beautiful EP.
The debut release on BFW recordings by The Danger Girl Starship. This is a chilled EP of lilting and echoing guitar songs - lovely stuff!
This is Bing Satellites most experimental work to date.
Accidental Music volume one is a collection of three ambient soundscapes - each about half an hour long and each made up of three seperate loops mixed together. They create a sound which varies little but never quite repeats itself.
A new experimental work from musician and composer Lindenberg Munroe. His composition blends Electroacoustics, ambient and Minimalist music. And here, when we say experimental, we are talking about the likes of LaMonte Young and his contemporaries.
The debut release on BFW from Lyften is a stunning ambient electronica EP.
This is a fine, chilled mix of ambient, IDM and microbeats.
The fourth release on BFW from i AM esper is another collection of guitar drones.
These, however, are much more chilled and less in your face. The hypnotic quality is still there but these recordings are verging on the ambient.
After 'Geography', his recent collaboration with Closer Contact, Meteer returns with this new solo EP.
This is a stunning collection of deeply chilled, experimental ambient pieces.
Anthing returns with another fantastic EP of electronica.
Mixed up beats and lush, ethereal strings - think of classic Aphex Twin at his ambient best.
This is one interesting album!
This is an electronic album - but it is so much more - glitchy, ambient, distorted and grainy, hints of wall of sound shoegaze, post punk new wave and much more.
A collection of songs based around guitar and fretless bass.
Blissful ambience finishing with the apocalyptic post rock of 'Where I Stand'.
These songs were recorded over the last few years, using different techniques and equipment for each song. All that links them is the presence of my trusty, battered, old guitar and fretless bass.
For his latest release on BFW recordings, SineRider delivers an ambient masterpiece.
The shoegaze element is still there, but this is an album expansive psychedelic ambience.
The first release on BFW from Deprivation Chamber is a collection of experimental soundscapes. The name is quite apt - there is a dark, menacing quality to these recordings.
The third release on BFW from i AM esper is another album of heavy guitar drones. As the title suggests, these are much more hypnotic and meditative than the first two releases. But as with those releases, you can lose yourself in the noise.
We have much more to come from i AM esper over the next few months.
The debut release from Spooky Child on BFW recordings is a wonderful electronic EP full of differing elements - from ambient shoegaze to drum and bass.
But instead of us trying to describe the indescribable, why not just listen!
Ketsa returns to BFW with yet another outstanding album.
Nearly an hour of beautiful and intricately delicate songs filled with samples, beats and live instruments and percussion.
Seriously, you have to listen!
Lines In The Sky
A new collaboration from infamous Manchester DJ OnSpiderPark and ambient shoegazer Bing Satellites.
This is a collection of warm and glitchy ambient music in the most part, finishing with brain mangling 'Made Dahk'.
This music made with the rather wonderful Yamaha RM1x sequencer and Roland SH-32 synth.
The debut EP on BFW from I Am The Devil. At times rauccous, at times extremely laidback - a wonderful collection of songs.
This is lovely stuff! Pariah is collection of four chilled songs. At times reminiscent of Tangerine Dream, Ulrich Schnauss and a chilled Tom Middleton, this has a warm feel to it.
Sit back and enjoy!
The debut EP on BFW from Maybe Starry Skies.
This is a collection of three instrumental songs with influences from indie and shoegaze - this is a beautiful laidback EP.
After many years playing punk-rock in several bands, I recently started a new musical project based on instrumental pieces of music, inspired by post-rock, movies, and emotional atmospheres. Maybe Starry Skies could be defined as music to listen on the road, when the night has fallen, travelling to unknown cities.
For now I am working on my music alone, but I'm always looking for collaborations and contributions to build and make Maybe Starry Skies' universe evolve. - Maybe Starry Skies
Sit back and enjoy!
The first release on BFW recordings from Elypixa. 'Too Late For The Peace' is lush IDM - ambient, glitchy and immensely beautiful.
The third release on BFW recordings from Closer Contact is a collaboration with Meteer.
This is an expertly crafted album of abstract ambience. But don't assume that this is a cold album, beause it certainly isn't! Stripped almost completely of melody or rhythm, this is warm, friendly and quite psychedelic. What is left is minimal, beautiful and intelligent.
The second release on BFW from i AM esper is an EP of heavy guitar drones. Though having said that, this EP has a much lighter feel than the last release 'Over The Atlantic': rather than a full on aural assault, this EP is more evocative of shadows and things not quite seen. We have much more to come from i AM esper over the next few months.
The first release on BFW recordings from litmus0001 is a beautiful, lush soundscape of looping guitars and synths. Rooted in the beginnings of ambient, it draws comparison to Fripp and Eno's collaborations. But this is the work of one man, Jonathan Ewald. The music is recorded in one live take and completely improvised.
Twilight Sessions volume three
The third album in the Twilight Sessions series.
Like the first two, this is a collection of improvised live recordings. In places, very ambient: long, drawn out pieces that evolve slowly, creating quite an emotive and evocative sound.
Each piece starts as a blank canvas with no preconceived notion of where the music will go. Notes and noises are played from synths, guitar, voice and samples and fed into one or two loops which repeat and layer and decay.
These loops can be quite long, so as a performer I can add notes as I see fit, but only have a certain amount of control over what is heard - the rest is serendipity.
The first release on BFW from i AM esper is an album heavy guitar drones. These drones are not ambient - they are full-on wall of noise. But as you listen, you are hypnotised. This album is mesmerizing. We have much more to come from i AM esper over the next few months.
A celebration of ten years of wonderful music from one of London's most original producers. 'Time's Eye Transition' is another experimental ambient masterpiece with glitchy and world micropbeats that are uniquely Ketsa. The album features a track from every year of the last decade, showcasing this brilliant and unique talent.
The extraordinary new release from Chris Fordham.
A highly polished album of dark and emotive experimental ambience.
The second album in the Twilight Sessions series.
This is very ambient: long, drawn out pieces that evolve slowly, creating quite an emotive and evocative sound, but with a dub edge.
A wonderful slice of electronic music from Finland.
The second release on BFW from Anthing.
This ep is really personal and includes a mess of motion that I've experienced through this year. Mainly my work situation has been pushing my mind crazy but now I'm leaving that behind and hopefully it starts getting better. I know it will. - Anthing
Entheogen is the music of Goran Pejović, a new producer from Montenegro.
Singularity can perhaps be described as IDM - the music certainly has its roots there but there are elements of DnB and something much more delicate and emotive.
A deeply atmospheric ambient album. Daniel Davis has created a mesmerizing album of lush, electronic, ambient landscapes.
Manchester DJ OnSpiderPark returns with a 'A Brief History Of Electro'.
The title says it all.
Just turn it up loud!
The third release on BFW from SineRider is wonderful!
Powerful and emotive. Full on shoegaze guitars and lush production.
Lose yourself in this fantastic EP.
A wonderful slice of electronic music from Finland.
Somewhere between Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada and Plaid with an industrial twist.
Anthing 'Slip Deep' is another fantastic free download from BFW recordings.
Vladislav Buben returns with another fantastic work of hypnotic ambience, this time with deep bass and world beats. This man delivers quality ambience again and again, and we are very happy to share this music with you.
Bing Satellites second album proper is a collection of improvised live recordings.
This is very ambient: long, drawn out pieces that evolve slowly, creating quite an emotive and evocative sound.
The second release on BFW recordings from Closer Contact is another beautiful ambient EP.
However, this EP is a collection of much more sparse, minimalist soundscapes - there are very few beats or even rhythms to speak of. But this release is mesmerizing and a joy for the ears.
The second release on BFW recordings by Manchester's Poodleplay Arkestra is another fantastic EP. And again, hard to define. This is warm ambience - the Jon Hassell/ Brian Eno influence is there, but there is something else that gives this EP a unique character.

Quiet and intimate.
Acoustic guitars and atmospherics creating a lovely delicate and yet powerful emotive sound.
Fantastic stuff!
The long awaited debut EP from infamous Manchester DJ and producer OnSpiderPark.
Deeply chilled, hypnotic ambient electronica that needs to be turned up loud!
The second release on BFW recordings from The Sunshine Factory is a fantastic shoegaze pop album. There are big beats, lush vocals and full on wall of sound guitars. See the video for 'Skin As Smooth As Porcelain', HERE.
Warm, ambient electronica.
Think of Aphex Twin in friendly ambient mode or maybe Boards Of Canada but Texel has a unique flavour.
Haunting and beautiful.
This album is the unique sound of the Theremin played and looped by Istanbul-based musician Cihan Gülbudak.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Theremin, it is an extraordinary instrument that can be heard on many a horror film and is played by moving your hands near the instrument but not touching it!
This is a fantastic album.
Beautiful and chilled. 'The Snow Imposed Silence' is the wonderful new album from Cousin Silas.
Many of you will know this music from his previous releases on Fflint Central, Earth Monkey and justnotnormal, as well as appearances on several compilations. But for those of you new to this artist, this is a lush, drifting ambient album. Think of Namlook or Tangerine Dream and you are somewhere close, though this album has a unique flavour.
The second release on BFW from SineRider is a less ambient affair than his last release, Binary Flowers.
'December Embers' has guitars and singing and has much more of a post-rock feel to it.
The warm ambience is still there, but this is fairly different.
More fantastic new shoegaze music from Indonesia.
Shoegaze defines a wide range of music - from My Bloody Valentine to Cocteau Twins to Sigur Ros to Ulrich Schnauss. Indonesia seems to be in love with all of it.
There is so much beautiful new music coming from that part of the world and all of us here at BFW are proud to be part of it!
This is a beautiful album - at times, both delicate and powerful. The whole sound is a pleasure to hear.
The latest release from BFW recordings is a fantastic, bright, new indie pop album. Post Human Era is the work of brothers Daniel and Michael Finfer.
The is music best described as post-pop. Influenced by artists such as Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie, and Sigur Rós, their music contains elements of ambient, electro-pop, and post-rock music.
After the success of last year's classic shoegaze EP, 'Spell 336' EP, comes a second release from California's Spell 336.
Made up of newly discovered archive recordings that sound like they were just recorded, this EP is a shoegaze treat.
After the success, last September, of the first release on BFW from Ghouls 'N Eggs, the Drone Dance EP, comes a second release.
More intense and glitchy electronic brain noise but this time harder and more beat oriented.
And the first 4 tracks - distorted and full on - are complimented by the end of the fourth track 'Esofago' and bonus track 'Bolofecal' which drift into a deep ambience - no drums or real beats - just beautiful.
This is a real treat.
We are very happy to announce the first release on BFW recordings from Phillip Wilkerson.
Phillip is a prolific ambient musician, having several ambient works on CD and through various netlabels including bypass, Clinical Archives, Earth Mantra and Just Not Normal.
There is generally a warmth and an organic feeling to Phillip's work. 'Daybook' is a four song EP that continues this theme.
If you like quality ambient music, download this EP but also check out Phillip Wilkerson's other releases at www.phillipwilkerson.net
The fourth release from Bing Satellites on BFW is a decidely chilled affair.
It includes 2 lengthy ambient tracks, 'Slow Jam with flute and water' and 'The Light On The Hill', and an experimental piece entitled 'Good Morning'.
After a short break for Christmas, BFW recordings starts 2010 with a bang!
'Wreath Of Algoma' is a fantastic collection of 5 new songs. There is the shoegaze influence is in there, but these are huge sounding productions.
Prepare to be amazed!
After the success, earlier this year, of his mini-album, Eleven, comes the fantastic new release from one of London's most original and interesting producers.
The X Inside is a great album. You can hear Ketsa's influences in there but the intricate beats, the ambience, the worldiness and whole warm feeling of these recordings is hard to define.
This is a smart album and your ears want you to download it.

The follow up to A Vorkinzeebark is more friendly and chilled craziness.
The twentieth release from BFW recordings and the debut release of UK-based producer JCM. The mini album 'Scenes' is a lovely slice of ambient electronica - a brilliant debut.
Lively and full on. Beautiful and heartfelt. The poppiest of dream pop.
Shoegaze influenced, guitar drenched melodies accented and supported by samples, honey sweet tone driven vocals and old school dance beats.
Two fantastic songs that originate, strangely, from the heart of Dixie.
The first taste of a new ambient side project by Daniel Land. It comes from the forthcoming album 'Pentimento' due out in a few months.
Daniel's band, Manchester, UK based shoegazers Daniel Land & The Modern Painters are about to release their debut album, 'Love Songs For the Chemical Generation'.
It's a brilliant album with production contributions from Mark Peters, Ulrich Schnauss and BFW's Bing Satellites. You can order your copy from www.danielland.bigcartel.com.

Marvellous stuff from a very talented new artist.

Intense and glitchy, Ghouls 'N Eggs produce sounds similar in places to Himuro Yoshiteru and Aphex Twin.
This is great stuff - turn it up LOUD!
Beautiful stuff. Five songs of melodic beauty.
Simlar in places to Ulrich Schnauss, M83 and Brian Eno's 'Apollo'.
This is BFW's fifteenth release!
There is nothing quite like this.
From ambient to experimental electronica to glitch to god-knows-what-else.

A terrific collection of mainly ambient remixes by Bing Satellites.
Featuring remixes of songs from Alex Gloworld, Tally Koren, OnSpiderPark, Dibaba, Leni Ward and Kurosawa. The album includes three remixed versions of songs from Bing's Forever EP.
An eerily beautiful and intense collection of eight songs similar in places to Vangelis, Eno or an ambient David Sylvian. We can't recommend this enough..
A five song EP of blissed-out swirling guitars reminiscent of early Cocteau Twins or Chameleons. The band is a two-piece living in California. It is fair to say that this EP has been a long time coming.
An extremely chilled ambient EP of four songs from Magnus Larsson, an ambient musician and producer from Sweden.
The new EP from this band of ambient experimentalists from Florida.
Peaceful ambience and plaintive piano.
The new mini album from one of London's most inventive producers.
This is the new single from Sparkle Afternoon - an indonesian pop minimalist band (by the band's own definition) with indie, shoegaze, dream pop and BritPop elements. More to come from them soon...
