Twilight Sessions volume 3
The third album in the Twilight Sessions series. Like the first two, this is a collection of improvised live recordings. Volume 3 carries on where volume 2 left off, on a more ambient, minimalist vibe. 'Janus' is quite an emotive journey and 'Titan' offers, at times, a subtle, menacing sound.
Recording is already underway on volume 4. The next few months are busy, with a new release each month, starting in August with a collaboration with OnSpiderPark. More on that soon...

Twilight Sessions volume 2
The second album in the Twilight Sessions series. Like the first, this is a collection of improvised live recordings from March 2010. In places, very ambient: long, drawn out pieces that evolve slowly, creating quite an emotive and evocative sound, but there is more rythym and a dub edge to this album. Each piece starts as a blank canvas with no preconceived notion of where the music will go. Notes and noises are played from synths, guitar, voice and samples and fed into one or two loops which repeat and layer and decay. These loops can be quite long, so as a performer I can add notes as I see fit, but only have a certain amount of control over what is heard - the rest is serendipity.

Daniel Land & The Modern Painters
In late 2008, I interviewed Daniel Land, of Manchester-based shoegazers Daniel Land & The Modern Painters, for my radio show on
rebelradio.fm
(show 21).
This lead to me being asked to mix one of the tracks from their debut album,
'Love Songs For The Chemical Generation'
which is out now and can be purchased from the band's Online Store.
The song I helped mix is called 'Codeine' and fits neatly between two songs, 'Within The Boundaries' and 'Benjamin's Room', both produced by Ulrich Schnauss and Mark Peters of the rather wonderful band Engineers.
It therefore seemed appropriate to follow the first interview with a second on the release of the album.
A short version of that interview plus some tracks from the album can be heard on
show 31 on
rebelradio.fm.
You can also download the full interview by right-clicking

They're a great bunch of guys and a fantastic live band - go and see them and buy them a drink! |
Trespassers William on Bing's radio show
Some of you will know that I am a big fan of Trespassers William - Anna-Lynne Williams's melancholy songs and beautiful voice together with Matt Brown's lush echoey guitar soundscapes are peerless.
I'm such a big fan that a few years ago, I remixed their song 'Different Star' (you can hear it along with some other unreleased remixes on the
music player)
which drew praise from the band.
So when they played recently at the Sacred Trinity Church in Manchester I met with the band and interviewed Anna-Lynne Williams for my show on rebelradio.fm.
You can hear that interview along with a selection of the best new ambient, shoegaze and experimental music from around the world.

Show 27 is a cracker! I was lucky enough to meet up with
Ulrich Schnauss recently while he was in Manchester playing a gig with M83.
I interviewed him for the show and the result is online now at RebelRadio.FM
along with a selection of his music plus tracks from RadioSeed, Klotzsch & Sudermann, When Tides Collide and Ketsa.
